GLUE
GLUE is a language to describe Grid components in a platform- and technology- neutral fashion. It main purpose is to allow service discovery; for example, a job landing at a site should be able to query the GLUE information to discover all grid services.
Components within a grid publish a description of themselves using a standard information model. For dCache, the Info Provider provides this description.
Organisation
The GLUE info model is maintained by the GLUE Working Group, part of the Open-Grid Foundation (OGF).
History and Future directions
Currently, GLUE v1.3 is commonly used; some components still publish GLUE v1.2 information, which is compatible with clients expecting GLUE v1.3 information.
GLUE v2.0 is the next version of GLUE. It will not be backward compatible with GLUE v1.3, so a new dCache Info Provider will be needed.
