Postcards

Up to two minutes (uninterrupted) per person where they can answer two questions:

  • What I did last week (since the last meeting),
  • What I plan to do in the next week.

No questions until we get through everyone :)

Patrick: vacation, interviews, EMI paperwork.

Tanja: fighting with NFS 4.1. Fixed four-or-five tests

Antje: Stuff for EMI, tickets.

Paul:

Jan: working on the cool pool-group page.

Irina: stuff antonia on inheritance in ACLs. looking at tickets.

Timur: Vacation, production issues; SRM scalability testing.

Tao: put code on ReviewBoard?: interface, and code. Continuing work on this.

Dmitry: worked on companion issue: 5641. Issue to do with saving PoolManager.conf.

Gerd: trying to upgrade to 1.9.9. Finally succeeded after fixing a number of bugs. Debugging xrootd in Helsinki. Found a number of bugs. Now able to overload the pool networks.

Plans for patch-releases

Should we make a new patch release?

CDF upgrade in 4 weeks from now.

Within a week then we can upgrade.

Plan to release 1.9.9-2 first, then 1.9.5-22 then 1.9.8-x 1.9.7-y.

Trunk activity

Progress with new features...

gPlazma

Irina has been busy working on dCache tickets.

We need to map only a single uid- or a single gid- principal back to some identifier.

This will be used first in ACL management interface;

Can a door specify which kind of principal it wants? Yes, but you can't

In reverse map, we can specify a

There should be options to return some or all matching principals.

If there are multiple reverse mapping the correct behaviour may be door-specific.

Gerd to implement map and reverse map messages.

Password plugin is working; may need some tidying up.

What is the timeline for new web-interface.

Hope in 1.9.10 to have something to demonstrate. Cover the pcells / GUI use-case.

This read-only pages. These are going to be implemented in the new system.

Some pages are unauthenticated? Yes, currently need to log in as guest, but can make this available without logging in.

Currently, some engines are screen-scraping; others are embedding the page.

Is that information available in info-service? They look at the number of stage requests; they compare this with the number of movers on the pools. If they detect a difference in these numbers, then is usually indicates a problem in dCache.

Taking search / xpath.

SRM parameters

Problem is for client that does prepare and never picks up TURLs.

Plan is to not backport this to 1.9.8, 1.9.7 or 1.9.5.

Update the release notes to better explain the situation.

Logging

Just pointing out that we are no longer using log4j. The config. file has change. The admin command has changed. Hope what we have now is closer to what people want.

PNFS

Timur: pmountd problems.

In two production systems have observed pmountd crashes with seg-fault. This is reported in /var/log/services. No other message.

What did you change? Kernel upgrades happened at about the same time.

Is the problem reproduceable? No.

Try to generate a core-dump? CDF is running so it will generate this.

The RPM of the kernel was built by us.

Looking into the difference instances to see if

Dmitry to try to reproduce the problem on a test stand.

According to the message in seg-fault at RIP ... and this is the same for the crashes.

If it fails approx. twice a month then we should get a crash soon.

OSG presentation

Timur is planning to give three presentation: scalable SRM, new wonderful things (webdav ...), NFS 4.1. First one written by Timur, second is from input from everyone, third is a merge from Gerd's Jamboree and Patrick's talk at WLCG.

3x 20 minutes should be a good duration for a presentation.

OGF, looking the same, giving a holistic view of the project. Do we want to do this? Have a general template?

In principle, yes; however, probably not worth doing this now.

Issues from yesterday's Tier-1 meeting

pool: Proposing something quite sensible. Allocate each pool a unique ID.

He's asking if we can implement this before the next golden release. Patrick and Gerd agreed that this is a lower priority that other things needed for the next GR.

Nice new ticket from Gerard for Gerd: 5763.

Review of RB requests

DTNM

Proposed: same time, next week.
