Postcards
Up to two minutes (uninterrupted) per person where they can answer two questions:
- What I did last week (since the last meeting),
- What I plan to do in the next week.
No questions until we get through everyone :)
Dmitry: we have interviews; mostly thinking.
Christian: SSH code -- Login Strategy; fought with KPWD file and EMI stuff.
Jan: gPlazma2 stuff; web-admin active transfers new/old way of getting information; new cell for this.
Antje: Documentation book.
Paul: working on tickets; Lund, finding and fixing bugs.
Tigran: map and reverse map Identity strategy for gPlazma. ACL works. Same identity plugin that uses nsswitch on local machine. Also preparing our NFS code for next week where we test our kerberos implementation.
Karsten: worked on gPlazma chapter of the book. Finalised WLCG chapters for gPlazma.
Tanja: holiday :-) tickets, dCache book update. Investigating string template for the WebDAV.
Gerd: Looked at RPM and Debian packages (fixing warnings). looked at FTP and fixed some RFC complaint issues (trying to get Globus-Online working). Moved all the default values of gPlazma into the defaults files.
Plans for patch-releases
Should we make a new patch release?
1.9.12
Too many patches between 1.9.12-3 and 1.9.12-4; yesterday planning to release but currently merging the remaining patches.
Shall we move forward and release -4 now or merge the remaining patches.
Toughest ones are: no access time (already merged).
Finish merging today and start the testing. Release on Friday.
1.9.5
Gerd thinks there are one or two patches lately for 1.9.5 that were relatively important.
Gerd remembered the DN banning patch (vo-role map file). Tigran merged this yesterday. This could be dangerous as it changes behaviour of gPlazma; however, the patch was written to minimise the effect. It should only affect sites that already have a banning rule.
How strongly to we
Do we know when is this technical break? Starts 2011 (December) and goes into 2012 January--February.
Trunk activity
Progress with new features...
YAIM
Ask how to upgrade from 1.9.5 to 1.9.12?
Do we support YAIM in 1.9.12? We don't know.
Gerd intends to look at the upgrade the migration script so it works for the EMI / FHS-compliant package.
Christian confirms that dCacheConfigure currently doesn't work with 1.9.12.
Would be interesting to see if there's anything in the dCacheConfigure
If you configure support for a VO then it configures the corresponding Linkgroup, PoolGroups?, etc. It also creates a layout file.
One idea is to have dCache understand the YAIM configuration file. This would be in addition to the native layout.
Paul tries to have a look.
Issues from yesterday's Tier-1 meeting
Issues from EMI
Update schedule: the next upgrade starts 14 June and ends 24 June. This is like a merge-window.
Should the RPM packages include the dependencies on PostgreSQL and Java (Server and SRM-client).
Sun Java was a problem. We recommended it but most distributions did not distribute it.
We can follow the EMI policy here.
On Ubuntu, the Sun JVM is available.
Do we have an FHS-compliant version of the Debian package? Yes.
Tigran to add the Debian package to those we release.
dcache-1.9.12-? in EMI repository and dCache web-site have different
dcache-server name already registered in EMI and
One possible that solutions is could add ".emi", e.g., dcache-server-1.9.12-3.emi.rpm. Tigran thinks this will work.
With EMI, changes in 1.9.12 should be approved by SA2. This means submitting changes in advance of the merge window.
Hope that the EMI and dCache.org stay in sync.
Dmitry: Cleaner problem? No progress.
Outstanding RT Tickets
[This is an auto-generated item. Don't add items here directly]
RT 6351: how to even out restores across multiple pools
Dmitry has implemented the suggestion of equalising the settings across pool-group. Ticket can be closed.
RT 6354: dcache support in glite
Now just a question on how to BDII?
Maybe we can give them suggestions on how to convert their existing YAIM file
He has 1.9.5-25 (via gLite) and is upgrading to 1.9.5-26.
Perhaps he should upgrade from gLite to EMI-1? Talk to Patrick about this to come up with a strategy.
Review of RB requests
Skipped since we ran out of time.
DTNM
Same time, next week.
