Issues from recent CA update
Paul reported that, at this time, the picture is confused.
Ron has reported that SARA suffered after updating their CA bundle: gsidcap transfers were failing. The kind of failure is reminiscent of an earlier bug.
However, we have have been unable to reproduce the problem here at DESY. We've also heard from a site that has upgraded the certificate bundle without their gsidcap transfers failing.
Gerard reported that, at PIC, they have upgraded their instance to use the latest release (1.42). They haven't experience any problems but their users don't use gsidcap (by-and-large). During the meeting, Gerard tested a gsidcap-based transfer and was unable to reproduce the problem.
Xavier said that GridKa has no plans to upgrade the CA bundle.
Mattias described how, at NDGF, they are running a gsidcap door but testing by VOs found GridFTP to be faster, so the door isn't currently being used by end-users. Mattias says, because their gsidcap door isn't in use, he feels happy to upgrade their CA bundle. He's planning on doing this Thursday (2011-10-06).
The dCache team will continue efforts with Ron to try to understand the problem, reproduce it locally and fix it. However, currently we suspect that the problem is somehow SARA-specific.
Futher update after meeting
Xavier later reported via email
I asked our experts about our plans regarding the CA update. Since we have automated that, we have updated to 1.41 and 1.42 as soon as available (without doing tests on any preproduction setup). We did not notice any problems with either package. However, at GridKa no gsidcap door is installed (since 2nd of May, when we decommissioned our one and only gsidcap door for it wasn't used at all).
DTNM
Same time, next week.
