Postcards
Up to two minutes (uninterrupted) per person where they can answer two questions:
- What I did last week (since the last meeting),
- What I plan to do in the next week.
No questions until we get through everyone :)
Worked on enstore, testing PNFS-Chimera migration for public dCache (61 databases). Giving a seminar talk on this work.
Al: final tweaks on plotting code .. generating diffs but not submitted yet. Trouble in eclipse with new Maven em2m plugin .. doesn't seem to be picking up .. it doesn't seem to work with the NFS module. Something also wrong with (pam?) with .. checking . Legacy tables and liquibase. Running changelog on this, something strange happens. It interferes with the changesets: it messes up some of the preconditions and makes it run multiple times. This is something observed with the Spring-based liquibase support but not seen with the stand-alone tool.
Gene: nothing extra
Karsten: some maven stuff with eclipse. Back to IPv6 work.
Tanja: moving maven. learning how to do username+pw configuration. Learning about ACLs. Tickets. Updating our web-pages so they show our new release
Tigran: Fighting the maven monster. Releasing 1.9.12, 2.0.1 testing 2.0.2 (ETA end of week). Merging is becoming. Getting HTTP to give the correct errors / due to exceptions.
Paul: looking for bugs (and finding them), responding to tickets, reviewing code.
Antje: documentation (as usual)
Christian: fighting the ETICS monster. Locally building on SL-6 using the ETICS client. Some minor issues with the dcap client (no src.rpm). Did we release dcap through ETICS? Yup.
Plans for patch-releases
Should we make a new patch release?
2.0.1 released yesterday. SARA found a problem with this (basic auth in WebDAV), so releasing 2.0.2. LOFAR are accessing data only through HTTP.
In 1.9.5, we have only one fix (changing error log) so not urgent.
Trunk activity
Progress with new features...
eclipse
mvn eclipse:eclipse
generates an eclipse project from maven project.
Karsten has done manual fixes (through GUI). The compiler compliant settings (--> 1.6) and switch the class compliant settings (--> 1.5).
Al: last week M2E seemed to work ok, but now some packages are not getting build from dcache-core. For example, the nfs package seems to be failing.
Try to find out information and place it somewhere... a wiki page.
xrootd pulling out to github: no problems.
Issues from yesterday's Tier-1 meeting
Triumf
Probably killed the msg queue on billing, which had the knock-on effect on http (statistics query once a day), which upset the topo + info cells.
Issues from OSG
No.
Yes: remove the old priv. jar file and update the priv-xacl.jar. They even have a maven repo for this.
If we do this in trunk ... Dmitry can test dCache with this change.
Issues from EMI
There is a proposal considering (desire to get code into EPEL). What can we do with or Java code?
Need to check how tomcat and JBoss.
Problem is what to do about dependencies? EPEL requires having these separate (not bundled with our code).
Another possibility is to merge the code into our code-base (subject to licensing agreements).
We (EMI) have three target platforms: RHEL-5, RHEL-6 and Debian (two EPEL-aware platforms).
EDI-2, everyone is supposed to provide src RPMs. For EMI-3, the plan is that everything is in EPEL; each team has one person responsible for getting code into EPEL.
Can we do this?
Do we want to?
Maybe some dependencies are already in EPEL.
Process:
- go through our dependencies and see what is already there.
- change the building (maven flag to pull deps from the system) and packaging so it adds the dependencies. Maven has an. We need either a pom.xml file per platform or somehow parametrise the settings somehow.
Christian to do step 1.
Outstanding RT Tickets
[This is an auto-generated item. Don't add items here directly]
Remove data from the token then this space isn't released. This step then needs to be done by hand.
file: Storage.class are you modifying it? Tigran found some 'interesting' things. After BNL upgraded, found some strange things. He'll send an email with a 2-line fix.
Review of RB requests
DTNM
Proposed: same time, next week.
