[part of a series of meetings]

Karsten, Christian, Paul, Tigran, Patrick, Dmitry, Al

[see box on the right-hand side]

Up to two minutes (uninterrupted) per person where they can answer two questions:

  • What I did last week (since the last meeting),
  • What I plan to do in the next week.

No questions until we get through everyone :)

Tigran: Working on passthrough support for ldap needed for DESY and our cloud. Tests showed that it works.

Al: Worked on problem introduced by upgrade of DataNucleus?, as some XSLT features are not suported. For now it got reverted. The idea was to get rid of SAXON, but that only solved parts. So today, will check if the SAML still relies on SAXON. NFS bring-online patch. Moving forward with ReplicaManager.

Dmitry: Worked on problems with SRM and ReplicaManager. Debugging Fermi Ssystems. After some tweaking 30GB per day. pcells is now working after removing a key.

Paul: Mostly working on funding work. Releasing 2.2., 2.6, 2.7.1

Christian: Debugging pcells problem. There seems to be a problem with PnfsManager update (Decoding EXception (?)). Worked on Bug submission script. Provided VMs to Cern people

Karsten: SmallFiles? to MongoDB and Python

Patrick: Bits and Pieces

Plans for patch-releases

Should we make a new patch release?

Paul: 2.7.6, 2.6.21

2.8.0 is tagged and built will release soon

Do we need to add the new Dotcommands to 2.6 and 2.8.? Dmitry: Should go into 2.9 and above.

Golden Release

Patrick: My constraint is, that the next GR must contain the webdav third party copy. All other great features should be there for the workshop.

Dmitry: PIC people are worried, because current releases seem to have problem with ENCP. Could we extend support for 2.2 to next June?

Patrick: If we would fix 2.6 for them, would they upgrade?

Paul: We could extend support for 2.2 until we release the next GR (i.e. June)

Dmitry: For them to use 2.6, we would need to fix it rather soon.

Patrick: We should still communicate, that all the new features will go into 2.9 and will not be backported.

Trunk activity

Progress with new features...

Tigran: DESY moves from NIS to LDAP. And we don't want to save passwords in LDAP, but have the server request an external server. Fixed this. Now on a request the authorization is done via kerberos while pulling other attributes from LDAP.

Issues from [FIXME: Add link to yesterday's Tier-1 meeting]

KIT: Ticket 7993; Fermi: They intend to finalise migration in Feb 24.

  • They want a new feature: They want to have a better handle for disk usage for a handful of directories. And they want to use chimera dump for this.

Dmitry: Couldn't this be solved with a stored procedur? And what about using "du -s"

Tigran: du -s would take much longer that doing this on the DB. And there may be a couple of solutions available in the user forum.

Dmitry: Will check and pass this information on.
