[part of a series of meetings]

Participants

Tigran, Al, Gerd, Paul.

Agenda

[see box on the right-hand side]

Postcards

Up to two minutes (uninterrupted) per person where they can answer two questions:

  • What I did last week (since the last meeting),
  • What I plan to do in the next week.

No questions until we get through everyone :)

Al: after committing Alarms patches, updating documentation (see patch), release notes next. Neglected to move functionality from admin servlet to alarms (patch coming). Started sand-boxing redesign ideas -- looking at changes to optimise web-admin.

Gerd: nothing at all

Tigran: mostly postgresql performance tuning (dCache injection ). Single inject take 1--1.5 ms. Each file create takes 3 operations, so ~5 ms, which results in a 200 Hz rate. Currently, any changes now makes the performance worse. Moved to machine with SSDs on RAID-0 with no performance improvement found.

Run tests with multiple clients: saturate 3,000 (corresponding to ~10k transactions-per-second). 8 physical cores (16 cores with hyper-threading). Better performance with hyper-threading switched off. For 20 clients it's 50% difference. Using pgtop command to measure transaction rate.

Installed on cloud system current trunk -- has all changes needed to run cloud. We now drop the custom RPM. Next week, supposed to upgrade CMS instance to 2.10, but this is postponed due to hardware not arriving.

jGlobus are releasing 2.1.0, based on our branch.

Dmitry: uneventful week, talking to Patrick, ANL, building encp client for deployment tomorrow. Cherry-picking stuff 2.6

Paul: fighting G2 tests.
