dCache Tier I meeting September 18, 2013

[part of a series of meetings]

Present, Paul), Fermi(Natalia)

(see box on the other side)

Site reports

Things have been a bit more bumpy recently at Fermi.

NFS errors

Natalia reported that some of the NFS mount point have stopped working.

The problem is still under investigation, so not too many details at the moment.

Symptoms are that the NFS client gets stuck.

There are kernel upgrades happening; so far, only nodes _not_ upgraded are suffering from the problem.

It could be the clients are mounting dCache with NFS v4. Since Fermi do not want to use NFS for data transfers, dCache could be mounted with NFS v3, which is the more stable code-base.

Overflow problem

There was an overflow problem, which was fixed ~1 year ago in 2.6 and 2.10.

The problem is only triggered by NFS v4 traffic, further suggesting that clients are mounting dCache using NFSv4.

Problem with PhedEx?

The node for supporting PhedEx?-related activity has run out of warrantee. Fermi want to move these services to newer hardware. Some advice was given,
